English Language Improvement Program (ELIP) :
It is a program aimed at empowering the student community to develop effective English communicative skills and to enhance their educational prospects, employability and there by boosting up there confidence levels. Focus is on spoken part of the English language.
This training program is implemented in two phases.
Phase 1: Trainers Sharing Programs. (TSPs) – The ELIP module will be shared with a group of selected trainers. During 2007-08, four TSPs were conducted in Sirsi, Bagalkot, Haveri and Athani so far, in which 20 lecturers were short listed to train students on ELIP.
Phase 2: Student Training Programs. – The trained trainers pass on the knowledge to students. During 2007-08, 117 students have been already trained and 562 more are undergoing training. It is proposed to train a total of 800 students across north Karnataka by the end of this year.
