Vidya Poshak has
been, since inception, assisting the needy meritorious students
through scholarships. The society felt that it would be better if the students
also are moulded to lead a
life
with quality and to resolve giving back to the society. Also most of the
Vidya Poshak students lacked confidence and skills owing to their
inferiority complex that prevented them from performing well in the
interviews as well as in any public appearance. Their intelligence alone
was not found to be enough. Also there has been a huge gap between what
is learnt in the academic system and the requirement of the main stream
society and the job market. Also constant encouragement and praise help boost the morale of the
students and camps provide an apt platform. To address all these vital
issues and to make the students contributing citizens to the society,
the Residential Bridge Camps took birth.
Hence Vidyaposhak decided to
train the meritorious and needy students through series of camps
through out their college years through unique residential camps to
ensure optimal success during and beyond their education years,
allowing them to achieve higher professional and personal goals and
thus uplifting their families out of economic hardship. In addition,
Vidyaposhak intends to produce leaders all over, committed for
shouldering the social responsibility.
The
Curriculum:
After
taking into account all the above, a holistic curriculum has been
structured out. The following topics will be dealt during the camp. It is
ensured that all the sessions are interactive and participative.
English
Language Improvement Program,
Workshops on
creativity and confidence,
Personality
development,
Career
awareness, Problem Solving, Change
Management, Computer
skills,
Study skills,
Health,
Yoga.
In all the camps, an open library
is set
up
with
various magazines, career related
books and news papers
are made available.
It has been observed in the previous camps that the students make best
use of the library. They even sit late night to read voluntarily.

So far, 16 Residential Bridge Camps have been conducted and 752 students
have been trained. Right now a camp is on at a place called Daddi
Kamalapur near Dharwad (karnataka). On 18th December, camp no 18 gets
started at Murdeshwar, South Canara district.
